Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing the right marketing support can be difficult, particularly when you are not sure what you need or whether you need an agency, an in-house hire or specialist support.

Here are answers to some of the questions I am most commonly asked about working with me, from how engagements work and what I can help with to pricing, strategy and ongoing support.

If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, get in touch and I will be happy to discuss your requirements.

Working with me

I provide senior-level digital marketing expertise to organisations that want to grow, improve their digital performance or get more from their existing marketing activity.

This includes strategic direction, specialist expertise or hands-on implementation, depending on what you need.

This can include digital strategy, website design and optimisation, SEO, PPC, email marketing, conversion optimisation and wider digital transformation.

I primarily work with SMEs, charities and organisations that need experienced digital marketing support without the cost or commitment of building a full in-house marketing function. I also work with organisations that already have marketing teams but need additional senior expertise, specialist knowledge or delivery capacity.

Yes. I am based in London and work with organisations across the UK. Most of my work can be delivered remotely so you do not need to be based in London to work with me.

Yes. I can work as an extension of your existing team, providing strategic direction, specialist expertise or hands-on implementation support.

You may already know exactly what needs to be done and simply need someone with the experience to deliver it. I can work in that capacity too, whether that means managing a WordPress website, setting up campaigns, implementing SEO improvements or working across your existing marketing platforms.

Yes. The balance between strategy and implementation depends on what you need.

Some clients need strategic direction and recommendations, while others already know what they want and need experienced support to deliver it. I can also combine the two, developing the approach and then putting it into practice.

The scope is agreed at the beginning of the engagement, so you only pay for the level of support you actually need.

A fractional consultant gives you access to senior-level marketing expertise without employing someone full-time.

Rather than committing to a full-time Head of Digital or marketing leader, you can bring me in for the amount of support your organisation actually needs. This can provide strategic leadership, ongoing advice and hands-on delivery without the overhead of a permanent hire.

Both. Some clients need a defined project, such as a website redevelopment, SEO audit or PPC setup. Others need ongoing support across multiple areas of digital marketing. We can start with a specific project and continue working together if ongoing support makes sense.

Strategy and Advice

I start by understanding what you are trying to achieve, what is currently working, where there are problems and what resources you already have. From there, I can recommend where I think marketing activity will have the greatest impact and what type of support would make sense.

If you already know what you need, we can discuss that directly. If you are not sure, I can help identify where the biggest opportunities are.

Yes, when that is what you are looking for.

If you engage me specifically for a digital marketing strategy, I can help define your objectives, positioning, audiences, channels, customer journeys, priorities and measurement framework, and turn these into a practical plan for growth.

If you engage me for a specific project, such as a website redesign or SEO project, I will take a holistic view of that work and consider how it fits into your wider digital presence. However, I will not create an entirely new marketing strategy unless that is part of the agreed scope.

Yes. I can work alongside your existing agencies, developers, designers and other suppliers, as well as helping you assess and select new platforms or services where required. This can include reviewing proposals, helping with requirements, comparing options, managing suppliers or providing strategic oversight to make sure the technology and services you are paying for are supporting your objectives.

Yes. If you are considering a new website platform, CRM, email marketing system, advertising platform or external supplier, I can help assess the options against your requirements. This can include defining what you actually need, comparing options, reviewing proposals and helping you make a decision based on your objectives rather than simply choosing the most familiar or heavily marketed option.

The metrics depend on the objective. For a lead-generation campaign, this might include leads, conversion rate and cost per lead. For SEO, it could include organic visibility, traffic and conversions. For a website, we might look at engagement, conversion rates and completed enquiries. I focus on connecting marketing activity to meaningful business outcomes rather than reporting numbers simply because they are easy to measure.

Yes. An outside perspective can be useful when marketing activity has become fragmented or you are not sure where to focus.

I can audit your existing digital activity, identify weaknesses and opportunities, and prioritise what is likely to make the biggest difference.

You do not necessarily need to know whether you need SEO, PPC, CRO or a new website before getting in touch. You can start with the problem you are trying to solve.

Services and Delivery

I provide a range of digital marketing services, including digital strategy, website design and optimisation, SEO, PPC and paid media, email marketing, conversion rate optimisation and digital platform support.

You can get in touch for a specific service or project or bring me in to provide broader digital marketing support across multiple areas.

Yes. I design and build conversion-focused websites, primarily using WordPress and Elementor. I treat the website as part of the wider marketing system rather than as an isolated design project. That means considering SEO, user experience, conversion journeys, analytics and lead generation alongside the visual design.

Yes. A complete redesign is not always the right answer. Sometimes targeted improvements to UX, SEO, content, page structure, conversion points or technical performance can produce a better return than starting again. I will assess the existing site before recommending a rebuild.

Yes. I can help with SEO across technical, on-page, content and local search, whether you are launching a new website or looking to improve the performance of an existing one. I can assess your current visibility, identify opportunities and prioritise the work most likely to improve relevant search visibility and organic traffic.

Yes. I can plan, manage and optimise paid advertising campaigns across platforms including Google Ads and Meta Ads, with experience across other paid social channels.

Campaigns can be used for objectives such as lead generation, customer acquisition, fundraising, awareness, purchases or driving specific actions. I focus on targeting, creative, conversion tracking and ongoing optimisation rather than simply setting campaigns live.

Yes. I can help with email marketing, including strategy, audience segmentation, campaign planning, automation, testing and conversion-focused customer journeys.

I have managed email programmes reaching more than 120,000 subscribers and used segmentation, automation, personalisation and A/B testing to improve engagement.

Yes. Conversion rate optimisation involves identifying where people are dropping out of your customer journey and improving the experience to increase the proportion who take the action you want.

This can involve website structure, messaging, calls to action, landing pages, forms, user experience, analytics and testing. I use data and behavioural insight to identify opportunities rather than relying solely on design preferences.

Pricing and Engagement

There is no single price for digital marketing because the right approach depends on your objectives, existing infrastructure and the amount of work required. After understanding what you are trying to achieve, I can recommend the most appropriate approach and provide a clear scope and price before work begins.

Not necessarily. The structure of an engagement depends on what you need. Some projects are delivered as a defined piece of work, while ongoing marketing support can be structured around a monthly engagement.

I prefer to agree an arrangement that reflects the work required rather than locking clients into unnecessary commitments.

Why Work With Me

Yes. I have extensive experience working with charities and mission-driven organisations, including several years in a senior digital role at Terrence Higgins Trust.

I have worked on national public health campaigns, fundraising, audience engagement, websites, email marketing and digital strategy, including campaigns delivered in partnership with the NHS and UK Government.

This experience means I am comfortable balancing performance objectives with accessibility, governance, stakeholder requirements and more complex organisational environments.

You get senior-level experience without necessarily needing the structure or overhead of a traditional agency.

I combine strategic thinking with hands-on implementation, so there is less separation between the person deciding what should happen and the person doing the work.

I have more than 10 years’ experience across digital marketing, growth, websites, paid media, SEO, CRM and conversion optimisation, including senior in-house digital leadership and consultancy work.

My focus is on understanding your organisation, identifying where marketing can have the greatest impact and then helping you deliver it.
